Music Teacher Education

If you have a passion for music and you want to share your interest with others, consider majoring in music teacher education. Being a music teacher is a rewarding career that allows you to help children and teens discover and better understand music, which is a universal language that binds us all together. In earning their degrees, music teacher majors study a combination of music- and education-related classes. Music classes include musical theory, singing, instrumental music, and teaching music. Educational-related coursework will include classes on educational psychology, teaching pedagogy, and child development. Most colleges also require students to complete a student teaching practicum before graduating. Most music education majors end up working in K-12 schools. However, others work as private music teachers or even recording artists.
