Theatre/Theatre Arts Management

A love of theatre is typically what prompts students to major in theatre/theatre arts management. Whether your talents lie in acting, directing, or managing creative teams, this is the ideal degree for someone who wants to spend his or her career behind the scenes. Theatre/theatre arts management majors study theatrical production, theatre design and planning, fundraising and promotion, investment strategies, human resources management, theatre operations management, marketing, public relations, financial management and insurance, and applicable laws and regulations. In short: It's a pretty broad program! Many schools will allow you to complete an internship to get additional field experience and make industry connections. People who major in theatere/theatre arts management end up working in all sorts of roles. Some might manage teams at theatres, museums, opera houses, symphonies, ballet companies, or art galleries. Others may return to school to further their education and end up teaching theatre.
